Verlyn G. "VJ" Julius, age 83, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Justin Manzey will officiate. Music will be provided by Janelle Manzey as organist. The funeral service will be live streamed via our website.
Visitation will be prior to services at the chapel on Friday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, Watertown, and the Funeral Honors Team of the U.S. Navy. Active pallbearers will be Cade Julius, Jake Julius, Cole Julius, Brandon Watt, Kyler Julius and Dylan Block.
VJ was born on February 3, 1943, in Rock Rapids, IA to Henry and Lillian (Renken) Julius. He attended Adrian, MN schools. He entered the United States Navy at 16 and then received his GED in Marshall, MN. He was honorably discharged January 24, 1964.
He married Edith Nord on January 28, 1966 and lived in Cheyenne, WY where they owned a race track for many years. They decided to relocate to Watertown, SD and start a mobile home business which he ran for many years, VJ's Brokerage Homes.
On March 15, 2015 VJ married Milagros “Miles” David in Sioux Falls, SD.
He enjoyed traveling to Florida. Upon retiring, he moved to Las Vegas and later Sioux Falls, SD. Also, VJ enjoyed sprint car racing, horses, watching NASCAR, visiting with his family and relatives. He was passionate about his cars and never missed an opportunity to tell a funny story.
VJ is survived by his wife, Miles, Sioux Falls, SD; two sons, Chad (Kara) Julius, Watertown, SD Wade (Sonya) Julius, Helena, AL; one daughter, Stacy (Richard) Block, Watertown, SD; one step- daughter, Micheline Guintu, Sioux Falls, SD; nine, grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jerry Julius, Shakopee, MN, Doug (Sharon) Julius, Post Falls, ID, Randy (Joyce) Julius, Sioux Falls, SD, Steve Julius, Denver, CO; and two sisters-in-law; Karen Julius, Slayton, MN, LeAnn Julius, Americus, GA; and one brother-in-law, Curtis Walker, Sioux Falls, SD.
VJ was proceeded in death by his parents, Henry and Lilian Julius; three brothers, Lee Julius, David Julius, Laverle Julius; two sisters, Lori Julius-Walker and Beverly Julius.
